Malone Fence Company installs year round
Winter time fence installations, although very hard to execute, are possible and in most instances, done out of necessity. Now, I’ll be the first to admit most people are not thinking about fence installations in Danvers MA, in the winter months of December, January and February. In fact most fence companies in the Northeast simply shut the doors and begin to hibernate this time of year.
What constitutes a necessity?
The reasons a fence installation can’t wait for more favorable weather conditions are more than likely, due to an emergency situation, When a car or truck loses control due to icy road conditions and crashes into a security fence, and creates a breach in security, it exposes the business or homeowner to risk. Weather damage such as high winds and fallen trees also can wreak havoc on Chain Link, Wood Aluminum, and Vinyl Fences. Timing is everything. That’s right timing, lots of people move unexpectedly or acquire a new family member, such as a dog and they need to secure the yard for their beloved dog. After all, who wants go outside with Fido and coax him into taking care of his business in slippers and a robe, in the Winter months. We love dogs at Malone Fence Company.
Special Winter Precautions
Some of the things you need, to install fences in the winter are related to clothing and some are related to tools and supplies. It is imperative to dress warm and have a good pair of boots and gloves. When digging through deep frost you need good sharp digging bars and a reliable tow-a-long air compressor, complete with jackhammer. If concrete is used it’s always a good idea to use additives such as calcium chloride or fast setting concrete. Fast setting concrete is usually available at any Home Depot or Lowe’s. Another trick I learned many years ago is to place a large nest of straw hay around the concrete footings. This insulates the footing and allows the concrete to set properly, insuring a quality job.
